Terms & Conditions

Service provider: Demo
Customer: student/parent/guardian (when student under-aged)
Student: person using the service
Payer: person paying for the service (student/parent/guardian/other)
Study year: fall term + spring term
Study term: fall term (August-December) / spring term (January-May)

  1. All students over 7 years old are welcome to enroll to Demo classes. There are no entrance exams. No prior skills required.
  2. Student enrollment and termination the studies must always be done through Eepos, i.e. the enrollment system used by Demo. In case of an under-aged student, this will be done by the parent/guardian. We do not accept verbal or email registrations or cancellations.
  3. The registration is binding and valid unless terminated by the student in accordance to the Demo cancellation policy (see 6). Hence, the student is automatically enrolled to the next study year.
  4. All teaching is carried out in accordance with the Demo curriculum (basic education in the arts, general syllabus).
  5. New students are also accepted during the study year depending on availability. The fee is determined according to the amount of lessons remaining in the term.
  6. Terminations must be done no later than four weeks before the start of each term, in the Eepos system under ‘Lomakkeet’. If the termination is done less than four weeks before the start of the term, half of the fee of the term will be charged. Note! Cancellations done verbally or by email are not valid.
  7. If cancellation is made after the start of term or during term, the fee will be charged in full (100%). The lessons the student misses, will not be compensated. In special circumstances (e.g. longer periods of illness) the cancellation and possible reimbursement can be negotiated separately, beforehand/without delay in the event of an illness. The registration cannot be cancelled nor the compensation applied for afterwards.
  8. The payer (student/parent/guardian/other) agrees to pay the fees as stated in the valid and current price list. The final responsibility of the fee always rests with the student/primary guardian of a minor who made the registration for that particular student. If ‘other’ is declared as the payer and they do not pay the invoice, the payment will then be charged to the student/parent/guardian).
  9. Requests for changes in studies (time, place, teacher, instrument) must be sent either using the Eepos change form or by email to our customer service (asiakaspalvelu@musiikkikouludemo.fi). This must be done at least four weeks before the start of the fall or spring term. Not every wish can necessarily be fulfilled, but we try to take wishes into account when planning the next term.
  10. It is possible that the duration/price of the lessons changes as the term changes (spring/fall), in case the size of the group is different the following term. Demo will inform the customer of all changes and options by email as early as possible.
  11. Demo will invoice 50/100 euros as an advance payment before the start of term. The amount is dependent on the lessons the student has enrolled to. The invoice will be sent by email.
  12. The final invoice is sent by e-mail each term, at the beginning of the term. It is possible to pay each invoice in two installments, so that the first installment must be paid on the due date of the invoice and the second installment no later than one month after the original due date of the invoice. If the invoice is paid in two installments, a fee of 5 euros will be added to the second installment. An additional fee may be charged for payment reminders. Demo has the right to terminate the student place if the invoice has not been paid. Termination of a student place does not, however, remove the obligation to pay the invoice for the ongoing term. For larger invoices (over 300 €), it is possible to agree on payment in more than two installments. This must be agreed in advance, before the due date of the invoice. If you want a payment plan for several installments, please contact laskutus@musiikkikouludemo.fi or phone 0400-471673.
  13. Demo has the right to check the credit details of the payer. If the payer lacks credit ratings or has several payment delays, Demo has the right to charge the term fee in total (100%) before start of term.
  14. The duration of fall term is 15 lessons, one lesson of which is a concert. For private students, one lesson per term is a group lesson. The fall term starts on week 35 (unless otherwise informed).
  15. The duration of spring term is 17 lessons, one lesson of which is a concert. For private students, one lesson per term is a group lesson. The spring terms starts on week 2 (unless otherwise informed).
  16. Lessons are generally held at the agreed time every week as stated in the weekly schedule. The weekly schedules are planned and released each study year, at the latest in August, before start of lessons. Demo reserves the right to schedule changes during the term and at the turn of the year.
  17. Student absences (travel, illness, or other reason) will not be reimbursed nor will replacement lessons be provided. Student absences should always be informed directly to the teacher by email. In special circumstances (e.g. longer periods of illness) the cancellation and possible reimbursement can be negotiated separately, beforehand/without delay. The registration cannot be cancelled nor the compensation applied for afterwards.
  18. Private students can, if they wish, change a local class to a remote class, also in cases other than illness. The change must always be agreed with the teacher in advance, preferably the day before the lesson.
  19. Lessons cancelled due to the teacher’s absence (illness and similar unexpected and unavoidable reason), we will try to arrange a substitute. If the teacher has mild symptoms and is able to work, the lesson can take place remotely. Lessons cancelled due to an unexpected sudden absence of the teacher, will be replaced at an announced time before the end of the term. This lesson can also be held in another location and/or at a different time. One of the lessons of the term can also be replaced with video or other material due to a teacher’s illness.
  20. Demo Concert is counted as one of the lessons of the term. We strongly recommend the students to take part in concerts and other events organised by the school, although this voluntary. We encourage the student/parent to inform the teacher if not participating in the concert. Demo will not refund the student’s absence.
  21. The registration form (Eepos) is used to grant or deny permission to publish video and audio materials related to the Demo. We will not associate names to published material.
  22. Each student needs their own instrument to be able to practise. The teachers are happy to help and answer questions regarding the purchase of an instrument. The school provides a limited number of rental instruments. These can be requested at tilaukset@musiikkikouludemo.fi.
  23. Most of the communication by Demo will be done by email, e.g. info emails and other announcements will only be sent by email. Unexpected and sudden cancellations of lessons (due to teacher’s illness and other unexpected reasons) will be notified by SMS. The student is responsible for the contact information to always be up to date.
  24. If lessons in class are impossible to arrange, due to reasons beyond the control of Demo, the teaching can also be arranged remotely.
  25. 25. Lessons missed due to force majeure reasons will not be compensated or reimbursed. Force majeure refers to reasons beyond the service provider’s control, which could not have been foreseen when making the contract and on the basis of which the teaching cannot be organised. Such reasons are at least measures taken by the authorities, natural disasters, a dangerous infectious epidemic and the precautions taken because of it, a state of war, social unrest, a serious accident, a strike, a lockout by an employer’s organisation or another reason with equally significant and unusual effects.
