Terms & Conditions

Service provider: Music School Demo
Customer: student/parent or guardian of a minor student
Student: person using the service
Payer: person paying for the service (student/parent/guardian/other)
Study year: autumn term + spring term
Study term: autumn term (August-December) / spring term (January-May)

  1. All students over 7 years old are welcome to enroll in Demo classes. There are no entrance exams and no prior skills required.

  2. Student registration and the cancellation of a student place must always be done via Eepos, the school’s registration system. For minor students, registration and cancellation must be donec by a guardian. We do not accept registrations or cancellations made verbally or via email.

  3. Registration is binding and remains in effect. Therefore, a student place is automatically transferred from the autumn term to the spring term and from one academic year to the next, unless the place is cancelled in accordance with our cancellation policy (see section 6).
3.1. The student/guardian must confirm the student place for the following academic year each spring in the Eepos system. If the place is not confirmed by 31 May, it will be considered cancelled.

  4. All teaching is carried out in accordance with Demo’s curriculum (National Basic Education in the Arts, General Syllabus).

  5. New students are also accepted mid-term or mid-year if space is available. The price for a partial term is determined by the number of remaining lessons.

  6. Cancellation of a student place must be made at least four weeks before the start of each term via the ”Forms” section in the Eepos system. If a place is cancelled less than four weeks before the start of the term, 50% of the term fee will be charged. Please note: Verbal or email notification is not sufficient.

  7. If a student place is cancelled after the term has already begun or during the term, the full term fee (100%) will be charged. Unattended lessons will not be compensated. In cases of prolonged illness or other exceptional circumstances, the cancellation of a student place or a refund may be negotiated separately and in advance, or without delay upon the onset of the illness. Student places cannot be cancelled, nor compensation claimed, retrospectively.

  8. The payer (student/guardian/other person) commits to paying the term fees according to the current price list. Final responsibility for the term fee always rests with the student who made the reservation or the primary guardian of a minor. If another person designated as the payer fails to pay the invoice, the fee may then be charged to the student/guardian.

  9. Requests for changes to studies (time, location, teacher, instrument) must be submitted either via the Eepos change form or by email to our customer service (asiakaspalvelu@musiikkikouludemo.fi) at least four weeks before the start of the autumn or spring term. It may not be possible to fulfil every request, but we aim to take them into account when planning the following term.

  10. The duration or price of a student’s lesson may change at the turn of the term if the number of students in the group changes. Information regarding changes and different options will be provided via email as soon as the need for change is identified.

  11. An advance payment of 100 € is required at the registration stage. Payment is made directly in the registration system via Paytrail. The advance payment will be deducted from the final invoice.

  12. Final invoices are sent via email seasonally, either before or at the beginning of the term. The invoice can be paid in 2–3 instalments (see installment instructions). If instalments cannot be managed according to the instructions, the school must be notified immediately via email: laskutus@musiikkikouludemo.fi. An additional fee may be charged for payment reminders and notices. Demo has the right to terminate a student place if the invoice has not been paid. However, the termination of a student place does not remove the obligation to pay the invoice for the current term.

  13. Demo has the right to check the payer’s credit information. If the payer is not creditworthy or has multiple payment delays, the term fee may be charged in full before the start of the term.

  14. The autumn term consists of 14 teaching sessions, one of which is a performance. For private students, one of the term’s lessons is also a group lesson. Autumn term lessons normally begin in week 35.

  15. The spring term consists of 16 teaching sessions, one of which is a performance. For private students, one of the term’s lessons is also a group lesson. Spring term lessons normally begin in week 2.

  16. Lessons are generally held at the agreed time according to a regular weekly timetable. Timetables are created for each academic year, no later than August before the lessons begin. We reserve the right to make timetable changes during the term and at the turn of the year.

  17. If the minimum size for a group lesson is not met (e.g. start groups, band lessons), the teaching may be arranged for a smaller number of students by shortening the duration of the lesson.

  18. A student’s own absences (travel, illness, etc.) will not be compensated or refunded from the term fees. Absences must always be reported to the student’s own teacher via email. In cases of prolonged illness or other exceptional circumstances, the cancellation of a student place or a refund is always negotiated separately and in advance, or without delay upon the onset of the illness. Student places cannot be cancelled, nor compensation claimed, retrospectively.

  19. Private students may, if they wish, change a face-to-face lesson to a remote lesson also for reasons other than illness. This change must always be agreed upon with the teacher in advance, preferably on the day preceding the lesson.

  20. In the event of a teacher falling ill, we aim to arrange a substitute for the lesson. If the teacher has mild symptoms but is fit for work, the lesson may also be held remotely. Lessons that must be cancelled due to a teacher’s sudden absence will be replaced with a lesson at a notified time before the end of the term. If necessary, the substitute lesson may also be held at another teaching location and/or at a time different from the usual schedule. One teaching session per term may also be replaced by video or other materials.

  21. Demo Concert is counted as one of the lessons of the term. We strongly recommend the students to take part in concerts and other events organised by the school, although this is voluntary. We encourage the student/parent to inform the teacher if not participating in the concert. Demo will not refund the student’s absence.

  22. On the registration form (Eepos), permission is either granted or denied for the publication of image and audio materials relating to Demo. Published material will not be linked to names.

  23. Every student needs their own instrument for practice. Your teacher can provide advice on questions related to acquiring instruments. Demo has a limited number of rental instruments; enquiries can be made at tilaukset@musiikkikouludemo.fi.

  24. Demo’s communication takes place mainly through the Eepos system. Sudden cancellations of lessons, for example due to teacher illness, are notified via SMS. Please ensure that Demo has up-to-date contact details for communication purposes.

  25. If it is impossible to organise face-to-face teaching due to reasons beyond the control of Musiikkikoulu Demo, teaching may be organised remotely.

  26. Lessons missed due to Force Majeure will not be compensated or refunded from term fees. Force Majeure refers to reasons independent of the service provider that could not have been foreseen when making the agreement and which prevent the teaching from being organised. Such reasons include, at a minimum, government actions, natural disasters, an epidemic of a disease posing a general danger and the precautions taken as a result, state of war, social unrest, serious accident situations, strikes, lockouts by employer organisations, or other equally significant and unusual causes.
